About This Program

When we say PITCH 4 PARENTZ, we refer to all caregivers in a child’s life. We recognize all families are structured in their own unique way and many adults have a positive affect a child’s life. Resilience is currently one of the most researched concepts in our ability to deal effectively with life stressors and trauma events. One of the most recognized aspects of resilience in children is a high quality sense of “connectedness” between a caregiver and child (2008, http://www.aifs.gov.au/nch/pubs/issues/issues29/issues29.pdf). We understand the challenge of parenting when addiction is present in the family system, even when children are not in direct or current contact with the addicted family member. We encourage parents to find resources to help with the multiple stressors while dealing with addiction issues. We support the concept of “creating a team” to help the entire family heal and move forward effectively with new strategies and goals.

PITCH 4 KIDZ recognizes that parent/caregiver involvement is essential for kids to fully integrate the concepts introduced during the PITCH 4 KIDZ weekend workshop and other programming. Parents are introduced to the skills taught in the program through parent orientation, participation in the Weekend Workshop, and in monthly Clubhouse events. An important part of the PITCH program focuses on parent involvement, education, support and encouragement.
